Rochdale Film Office

Welcome to Rochdale Film Office

Rochdale Film Office is Greater Manchester’s newest film location service.

Our five townships Rochdale North and Rochdale South, Heywood, Middleton and Pennines each have unique and distinctive characteristics and so much to offer filmmakers. From outstanding historic buildings and architectural gems, including the magnificently restored Rochdale Town Hall to stunning countryside including Hollingworth Lake and Healey Dell Nature Reserve with its beautiful waterfalls, wooded valleys and open moorland.

With great transport links, Rochdale is connected to Liverpool and Leeds by the M62 (just off Junction 20) and Salford and Manchester by the M60, we’re just a 30 minute drive time from central Manchester and 12 minutes by train from Manchester Victoria.

Notable productions filmed in the Borough include Talamasca: The Secret Order, Ridley, Peaky Blinders, After the Flood, The Jetty, Waterloo Road, Brassic, No Offence and 24 Hour Party People at our iconic Voltalab studios.

Partners

We provide a one-stop service for managing filming and photography on behalf of the council. All professional filming and photography on council land or public roads is licenced by us.

We collect location fees for the council. We work closely with council departments such as Highways, Parking, Housing and Leisure, Greater Manchester Police Film and resident, community and trader associations to ensure all filming is managed legally, safely and smoothly.

One of our principal aims at Rochdale Film Office is to make sure filmmakers respect the people who live and work in the community and we will negotiate to ensure that the community benefits fully from the advantages of filming in their borough.
